Machine Gun Snowboard
This was a side project as a gift for a friend overseas. Being based at a military unit in Afghanistan, my family sends him packages to make any effort to help his stay there more comfortable while away from home. Recently, when asked what he would like us to send, he jokingly said "Well, pretty soon it will be snowing here...if you could send me a snowboard with a machine gun on it, that would be awesome." Well, Kyle, hope it gets there by Christmas buddy!
The snowboard was made by taking a Tech Deck brand 'handboard' toy and removing the wheels. The figurine came with a cheap, plastic hovercraft toy that had the machine gun apparatus on it you see in the photos. I removed the ball-n-socket joint from the hovercraft boat and glued it to the top of the handboard. After removing the handboard's wheels and grinding away the exposed screws, super glue was used as filler to cover the voids left from the handboard’s metal trucks. I created a custom graphic with Kyle’s unit patch, division name, and his personal name. It was glued to the bottom and clear coated. it, The machine gun can rotate 360 degrees as well as rock back and forth -Swaff (Finished on Dec 6, 2005).
